All girls dream of having their own room. Ever since she was a Daisy, Girl Scout Kaylana dreamed about decorating her room with rewards she earned through the Girl Scout Cookie Program®. In July, she celebrated her 8th birthday and saw her dream come to life — and beamed with pride knowing it was the result of her own achievements.
For many years, Kaylana’s family rented an apartment, and she didn’t have a room of her own to decorate. Then, weeks before her 8th birthday, her family welcomed a baby boy into the world, and they moved into a bigger home with rooms for all.
This go-getter from Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey had a vision for her space. She wanted to showcase mementos from past Girl Scout Cookie Seasons. She spent the last three years earning and collecting rewards that she kept boxed up until her big day.
Last year, Kaylana even set cookie season goals to make it all possible. She attended an event at Lake Rickabear, where she voted on rewards and patches for the upcoming year. When cookie season came around, she knew exactly how many packages she needed to sell and how much money she wanted to earn for her troop.
Kaylana says her room turned out even better than she imagined. After three years of patience (and lots of self-control!), it all fell into place. Now that her dreams have become a reality, she looks forward to earning more rewards next cookie season!
